Software architecture is concerned with structure and design of software systems. Currently component-based and service-based approaches are used in this domain.
The software architecture group explores the design and description of software architectures based on services and components (see the Whitepaper on Service-Oriented Development).
Our goal is to develop and improve techniques to describe:

component interfaces (syntax, behaviour, error-management)
component-based architectures (views)
landscapes that consist of more than one system
service-based architectures

The architecture group defines and improves architecture centric development processes, which can be adapted and scaled to specific needs of projects.
All techniques will be tool supported and (document-) templates will be defined, for direct application in industry.
